Welcome to my website. With this website, I aim to give you the opportunity to learn more about me.

Also included is a summary of my educational background and current projects.

I am Head: Community engagement and postgraduate students at the University of Pretoria, Mamelodi campus.  Previously I was a senior lecturer responsible for the compulsory undergraduate module, Community-based Project Module (JCP) of the Faculty Engineering, the Built Environment and Information Technology. I am a qualified teacher and was trained for early childhood development phase as and the intermediate phase. I hold a doctorate in History and a Masters degree in Development Studies. 

I started my career as a teacher a Laerskool Tuinrand.  I was appointed as Head of the senior phase at Laerskool Rietfontein-Noord and became a senior researcher at the Transvaal Education Department and was also head of the Education Museum in Pretoria and thereafter responsible for the development of pre-schools in informal settlements next to Pretoria as well as skills development of staff of various schools in Pretoria. After that I developed and lectured a new module, the Community-based Project Module (code: JCP), for the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and IT at the University of Pretoria. I am a co-author of published chapters in books and articles in accredited journals and presented various papers at national and international conferences. 

I received an M1 merit while teaching at Laerskool Tuirand and the Gauteng Department of Education, District Tshwane South Director’s Award in 2001 and 2003. In 2006 I received an Education Innovation certificate from the University of Pretoria.  In 2009 the JCP module was a finalist for the MacJannet prize for global citizenship and won the Marketing Advancement & Communication in Education (MACE) Excellence Award in the Category: Integrated campaigns/projects and Subcategory: Social responsibility Citizenship Development in 2014. I received the University of Pretoria Community Engagement Award in 2015. In 2016 I received the University Education for Transformative Leadership in Africa (UETLA) Grant and was shortlisted for the Global Engineers Deans Council Airbus Diversity Award in 2017. In 2018 I received a teaching and learning award from the Department of Informatics at the University of Pretoria, and in 2019 a special award for teaching and learning, Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology of the University of Pretoria. In 2023 she was a finalist for the  2022/2023 NSTF-South32 Awards – Science Communication award and received the International Award for Excellence for an article in Organizational Cultures: An international journal with her co-authors.
