Continued with the Historical Society of Mamelodi continued with its digital storytelling project. Community members are taught to create videos using cloud-based video editing software. The aim of the project is to capture stories from the rich history of Mamelodi.

Syson KundaMartina Jordaan and Nita Mennega are the recipients of the International Award for Excellence for Volume 22 of Organizational Cultures: An International Journal. The article “Challenges and Recommendations: A South African case study of Women in the Information Technology Sector”, Organizational Cultures: An International Journal, Vol 2, Issue 2, 27-40. https://lnkd.in/eqGqS9qE was selected for the award from among the highest-ranked articles emerging from the peer-review process and according to the selection criteria outlined in the peer-review guidelines.

21 July to 6 August – Joined the project of Hong Kong Polytechnical University. The students installed solar panels and lights in 400 houses in Rwanda

12 September 2023: BSocSc (hons) students from the Department of Historical and Heritage Studies visited Mamelodi. They will collaborate with the Historical Society of Mamelodi and the Mamelodi campus on a project to capture the history of Mamelodi in a storymap format.


12 September 2023: The early childhood development students who participated in the sensory garden project alongside the early childhood development practitioners were awarded certificates for their involvement in the project. 


ECD storytelling workshop in collaboration with the Merensky Library. Righardt van den Berg did the workshop from Nalibali.


During the 6th annual South African Heritage Resource Agency’s Heritage and University of Pretoria Heritage Seminar, a session was presented by Dr. Martina Jordaan and Rev. Chris Nkomo from the Historical Society of Mamelodi on the projects of the Historical Society. These projects are done in collaboration with the Mamelodi campus and the Department of Historical and Heritage Studies.
